About Cembre — Italian Cable Connection Specialists Since 1969

Cembre S.p.A., founded in Brescia, Italy in 1969, designs and manufactures a complete matched system of electrical crimping connectors, cable lugs, crimping tools, cable cutters, cable glands and marking systems — all from a single manufacturer for guaranteed tool-to-connector compatibility. The Cembre matched crimping system — where every connector specifies the exact tool model and die set required — eliminates the compatibility uncertainty that occurs when using mixed-manufacturer connector and tool combinations, and provides a documented, repeatable crimp geometry verified to IEC 61238-1 connection resistance standards. Cembre products are used by electrical utilities, cable jointers, panel builders, railway and offshore contractors across more than 80 countries worldwide.

HT Series Manual Hydraulic Crimping Tools — HT51, HT81-U & HT131-C

The Cembre HT51 (50 kN, up to 240 mm², weight 2.7 kg) is the standard lightweight manual hydraulic crimping tool for LV cable lug termination in switchgear compartments, distribution panels and cable trenches where compact tool dimensions and single-hand die advancement are required. The twin-speed mechanism (rapid advance + high-pressure crimp) with 180° rotatable head and spring-loaded handles enables confident crimping in the most restricted panel access positions. The HT51-kV insulated version provides 1000V rated insulation for live-adjacent LV cable termination by utility and DNO jointers. The Cembre HT81-U (up to 240 mm²) features a patented closure/release mechanism for the die locking pin — allowing a wider range of connector types to be crimped using fewer die sets due to double-groove die geometry, reducing the die inventory required for multi-connector-type jointing operations. The Cembre HT131-C (130 kN, up to 400 mm²) is the industry-leading hydraulic crimping tool for large-section LV cable termination and MV/HV cable jointing — accepting all semi-circular slotted 130 kN dies compatible with other manufacturers' tools in the same force class. Built-in safety valve bypass at maximum pressure and 180° rotatable head are standard across the HT range. All Cembre HT tools are supplied in a robust steel carrying case accommodating the tool and up to 20 die sets.

B500T & B1300L Battery Hydraulic Crimping Tools

The Cembre B500T (battery hydraulic, up to 240 mm²) and B1300L-C (132 kN, up to 400 mm², enlarged C-head opening to 42 mm) are battery-powered hydraulic crimping tools for repetitive high-volume cable termination — eliminating the manual pumping fatigue of hand-hydraulic tools on production crimping tasks. The SMARTOOL technology integrated into the B1300L-C provides an OLED display showing crimping force (confirming correct compression at every crimp), battery state of charge, work cycle count remaining before scheduled maintenance, and other operational parameters — with Bluetooth data download to a smartphone for quality management records and maintenance scheduling. The LED work area illumination enables crimping in dark cable ducts, confined switchgear and underground vault environments. The automatic battery coupling system with control button and protected run button prevents accidental activation during tool repositioning. The enlarged 42 mm C-head opening on the B1300L-C enables large-section cable lugs to be removed from the crimping head without rotating the tool — saving significant time on production termination runs with 300–400 mm² cable sections.

Copper & Aluminium Cable Lugs — DIN 46235, IEC 61238-1

Cembre copper cable lugs are manufactured from electrolytic copper with a minimum purity of 99.95% — the highest commercially available copper purity, minimising the connection resistance increase that occurs with lower-purity conductor material. Aluminium cable lugs are manufactured from aluminium with purity greater than 99.5%. All Cembre lugs and connectors carry CE marking and are tested to IEC 61238-1 for connection resistance and mechanical performance — providing documented evidence of connection integrity for project quality records and utility network connection approval. The Cembre range covers standard cable lugs, ring terminals, bootlace ferrules, in-line connectors (end sleeves) and C-type compression connectors from 1.5 mm² to 1,000 mm² in copper and 16 mm² to 1,000 mm² in aluminium. Bi-metal cable lugs (copper palm, aluminium barrel) cover aluminium conductor termination at copper equipment terminals. The Cembre palm geometry and bolt hole sizing match IEC standard switchgear and transformer bushing terminal pads directly — without modification or adapter washers.

TC Cable Cutters — Hydraulic & Ratchet

The Cembre TC120 hydraulic cable cutting head (maximum cable diameter 120 mm, 700 bar working pressure) connects to the PO7000 foot pump for single-cut cable cutting of large-section LV and MV underground cables — including SWA armoured, XLPE, EPR and PILC insulated types — without the burr and mechanical damage produced by reciprocating or disc cutting methods. The quick-release coupler connects the cutting head to the pump without tools, and the hinged head opening enables cutting of running cables in a duct without pulling the cable end through. Ratchet cable cutters (mechanical, up to 70 mm diameter) cover lighter cable cutting tasks where hydraulic pump equipment is not available or practical — for site electricians cutting NYY, NHXMH and SWA cables to length during installation.

MAXIblock & MAXIbrass Cable Glands

The Cembre MAXIblock (nylon, metric M thread, 1.5 mm pitch) and MAXIbrass (brass, metric M thread) cable gland ranges provide entry into electrical panels, junction boxes and equipment housings for cables with larger conductor cross-sections and overall diameters than standard metric cable glands accommodate. The MAXIblock/MAXIbrass series covers metric threads from M16 to M75 with an extended cable OD acceptance range — enabling large-section armoured and unarmoured power cables to be terminated into switchgear and transformer terminal compartments without custom or non-standard gland fittings. IP68 sealed and IP69K pressure-washdown variants are available for outdoor switchgear and food industry panel applications.

Cable Marking & Identification Systems

Cembre's automatic and manual marking systems provide printed identification markers for cables, terminals, conductors and panel components. The MPM automatic marking machine prints on self-adhesive vinyl tape and sleeve markers — covering wire ferrule marking, terminal block identification, cable marking and panel label production from a single benchtop machine. Pre-printed and blank sleeve markers, self-adhesive cable labels and heat-shrink identification tubes are available for the complete range of conductor and cable OD sizes. Cembre marking products provide UV-stable, solvent-resistant printing that withstands the industrial environment conditions — preventing the legend fading that occurs with standard inkjet-printed or handwritten cable labels in switchgear and outdoor cable installations.
