NYY Fixed Power Cables — 0.6/1 kV Underground & Surface Installation

The Nexans NYY-J (with green/yellow earth conductor) and NYY-O (all-black cores, without dedicated earth) are PVC-insulated, PVC-sheathed fixed installation power cables rated 0.6/1 kV to IEC 60502-1 and VDE 0276 — the standard specification for industrial and commercial power distribution throughout Continental Europe. Available in copper conductor cross-sections from 1.5 mm² to 300 mm² in 2, 3, 4 and 5-core configurations, NYY cables cover surface conduit wiring, underground direct-buried installation (with suitable bedding), in-duct underground distribution and indoor panel feed applications. The UV-stabilised black outer PVC sheath resists outdoor weathering and direct sunlight exposure without degradation — making NYY suitable for exposed rooftop cable runs and outdoor equipment connections that would require additional UV protection with a standard grey-sheathed cable. The NAYY aluminium conductor variant provides a cost-optimised alternative for large cross-section underground distribution feeder runs at 150 mm² and above, where the weight and cost reduction of aluminium is prioritised over the compactness of copper. Nexans NYY cables are manufactured to IEC 60502-1 type test requirements with BASEC certification and CE marking for European project installation documentation.

NHXMH & N2XH — Halogen-Free LSOH Power Cables

The Nexans NHXMH-J/O (300/500V, XLPE insulation, LSOH thermoplastic sheath, halogen-free filler) provides the halogen-free alternative to NYM for fixed installation in buildings where EU Construction Products Regulation (CPR) Euroclass fire performance declaration, low smoke emission (IEC 61034) and zero halogen acid gas generation (IEC 60754-1) are required by specification or building regulation. NHXMH is the mandatory cable type for new building wiring in many European countries — including Germany (VDE 0276 requirement), France, Benelux and Scandinavia — replacing standard PVC NYM cables in schools, hospitals, shopping centres, railway stations and public assembly buildings where occupant safety in fire is a primary design consideration. The Nexans N2XH (0.6/1 kV, XLPE insulation, LSOH sheath) extends halogen-free performance to the full power distribution voltage rating — covering motor feeders, main distribution circuits and busbar trunking tap-off connections in buildings requiring complete halogen-free wiring from service entrance to final circuit. Both NHXMH and N2XH are available with CPR Euroclass declaration (Cca, B2ca, C2ca depending on construction and test result) for compliance with EU Regulation 305/2011 Construction Products Regulation, which is mandatory for all cable products placed on the European market for permanent installation in construction works.

N2XRY & SWA — Steel Wire Armoured Power Cables

The Nexans N2XRY (XLPE insulated, round steel wire armoured, PVC sheathed, 0.6/1 kV, IEC 60502-1) provides the mechanical protection required for underground direct-buried power cable, cable in concrete-encased duct systems, cable in areas with rodent activity risk and surface-mounted cable in industrial environments subject to mechanical impact. The galvanised steel wire armour provides IK10-equivalent mechanical protection against direct impact, crushing and rodent attack — allowing direct burial without additional protection pipes in compliant soil conditions. Available in single-core (for high-current three-phase circuits using trefoil formation) and multi-core (2, 3, 4 and 3+1 core) from 1.5 mm² to 630 mm² copper conductor. The NAYY-J aluminium armoured variant is specified for large underground distribution feeders in utility and infrastructure projects. Nexans armoured cables are supplied on wooden cable drums with manufacturer drum card and full IEC 60502-1 routine test results for site delivery verification and project quality assurance documentation submission.

Screened & Unscreened Multicore Control Cables

Nexans multicore control cables cover 2 to 25 conductors in 0.5 mm², 0.75 mm², 1.0 mm², 1.5 mm² and 2.5 mm² cross-sections for control panel internal wiring, PLC I/O cable, field instrument wiring and flexible machine connection applications. Unscreened control cables (NYM-type, PVC insulation, PVC sheath) cover standard machine and panel control wiring in locations free from significant electromagnetic interference. Screened control cables — with overall copper foil screen and drain wire, or individual pair/triple screens plus overall screen — provide the EMC shielding required for control circuits running in proximity to variable speed drives, power switching equipment or high-current bus bars that generate strong electromagnetic interference. Screened Nexans control cables with PUR (polyurethane) outer sheath offer additional chemical resistance (IEC EN 50363 oil resistance class 1), halogen-free LSOH sheath variants and Class 5 fine-stranded conductor construction for high-flexibility drag-chain and repetitive-bend machine applications. Nexans industrial cable series for guideway-mounted moving applications (cable carriers) are tested and rated for minimum 10 million bending cycles — eliminating premature cable fatigue failure in automated machine, robot and gantry crane applications.

Instrumentation Cables — IS, OS & HART Protocol

Nexans instrumentation cables provide individually screened pairs and triples (IS — Individual Screen) and overall screened multi-pair cables (OS — Overall Screen) for 4–20 mA analogue signal transmission, thermocouple extension, RTD signal wiring and HART protocol field instrument connections in process plants, water treatment facilities and building automation systems. Individual screen isolation prevents capacitive coupling crosstalk between signal pairs sharing a common cable route — critical for long cable runs (>100 m) where crosstalk would affect analogue signal accuracy. The overall drain wire provides a continuous EMC return path for the cable screen — connected at the control panel end only (single-point earthing) to prevent earth loop interference. Nexans instrumentation cables are available in PVC, LSOH and XLPE/LSOH constructions, with armoured (SWA) options for mechanical protection in process plant trenching and industrial floor installations.

Nexans Euromold — Medium Voltage Cable Accessories

Nexans Euromold is the world's leading brand of pre-moulded medium-voltage cable accessories — covering separable connectors, elbows, T-connectors, straight joints, heat shrink terminations and cold shrink terminations for 10 kV to 36 kV XLPE and EPR insulated cables. Euromold screened separable connectors (elbow and straight body, 200A and 630A, interfaces A, B, C, D, E and F per IEC 62271-209) connect 10–36 kV cables to transformer bushings, switchgear bushings and ring main unit (RMU) cable boxes — providing a fully insulated, live-dead testable and plug-in/pull-out connection without energised exposed conductors during maintenance operations. The Euromold elbow connector (90° body) is the standard for transformer LV/HV bushing connection in compact substations; the Euromold T-connector provides the junction between ring feeder cable and transformer connection in underground distribution ring main systems. Nexans heat shrink terminations and joints for 10–36 kV cables (JTS Next Generation range) use pre-assembled, colour-coded shrink-on components to simplify jointing and reduce skilled jointer installation time by up to 50% compared to traditional hand-built tape-type joints.
